LD child in my future classroom

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I am studying to become a teacher and I know I will have LD children in my classroom. I was just wondering what things I should watch for with a LD child in my classroom.

LOL, you will have one? One of our general staff members today asked for information to support her English 9 class with 4 LD students and 2 ED/BD students!

For my students, imagine having a student in your room who is blind, or deaf. What changes would you make in order to educate this child? My students are capable of learning. They need the same information just in a variety of ways. You wouldn’t expect a blind child to learn if most of your presentation is done on the blackboard, and you would not expect a deaf child to learn if the presentation is done orally.

Much of the latest brain-based research, multiple intelligences and differentiated instruction techniques will give you a good start.

This site had piles of GREAT stuff.

Good-luck.
