i want to go back to elementary school and be a student not required to do anything but learn the basics. I am 31 years old and feel that there is alot I failed to learn and there were no outstanding teachers who inspired me to learn. I love education and want to teach but how can one teach what one hasn’t fully understood . What advice do you give to handle these feelings of inadequacy?
community college is a good place to start
I’d enroll in your area community college to learn what you feel you haven’t learned or to discover that you already have learned a lot.
Taking some inexpensive and very basic courses as are always offered by community colleges can’t ever hurt and might help you on your way to being the teacher you want to be.
Good luck.
I am so totally with you here.
I too picked up little to nothing while in elementary school, yet have managed to wing it up to now.
Still I’ve this nagging feeling that wants to or, feels the need to find that minds eye school teacher to help me walk through the basics that evaded me as a kid.
As an adult we can go to Adult school or, maybe it feels better to visit some elm. Schools, maybe talk to the Vp saying that you are looking for a tutor. I’d suspect that you would be able to introduce yourself to some of the teachers, and take it from there? Or post a note in the teachers room or an add in the town paper.
Good luck finding your way.
