LMB Tutor in Atlanta

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I would appreciate it if anyone knows of and can share information about tutors for Lindamood Bell programs in Atlanta.
As everyone knows, the cost of the programs at the LMB centers is exhorbitant. She has undergone an evaluation at the center and they are recommending 4 hours a day for twelve weeks. I believe (hope) that the program will be of tremendous benefit to my 7-year-old, but we have so far being unable to locate a tutor as an alternative. If anyone knows of trained tutors in the Atlanta area, I would be most appreciative of the information. Thank you.

You could start by finding a list of pediatric speech and language pathologists in your area. Many of them are trained to teach reading (and sometimes your health insurance will even pay for it) and after talking to a couple of SLPs you should have a pretty good idea of what’s available in Atlanta (my hometown!).

You might also want to get a “second opinion” from an SLP who is also a certified Phonographix instructor (some are trained in both methods). Some kids don’t need the intensity of LIPS and will succeed with a good PG tutor.

Good luck.

he other option is to check into training someone at a school or finding someone who who would be a good candidate for the training and who would like to becme a tutour. It’s much less to train someone and they could deduct the money for trainig from private tuition for your child. ven better f you can find some other parents who would share costs and tuition.

That’s a good idea. I should expect that the cost would be significantly reduced. Thanks.
