Thank you for responding to my cry for help. I really have tried to do things differently this week. I stopped the counting thing because, my students felt they were being treated like kids, and I was. I really don’t have a problem with the students not being open with me, they are all pretty comfortable with me. I just have three students that sometimes can ruin it for all. I noticed they would cause the most problems when we would have to work in our workbooks. The three in particular don’t like the workbooks, which is why they act out. I use the Steck-Vaughn series, and some of my kids want to work in books like “the other kids”. I believe in setting limits for my kids, but I don’t need to be in total control. I usually send my kids to ISS (in school suspension) when they are misbehaving so badly, that it is interfering with everyone else’s learning. I haven’t tried detention. I feel bad about having them leave the classroom, but I feel worse when they interrupt everyone else. Thank you for writing, Rebecca
