A few issuses: Does anyone know about Month by Month phonics, which is the program scheduled for NYC schools that are not properly performing? My son’s school passed the chancellors list, so it can do as it likes. (He’s into middle school next year, so this is moot to me).(And many other problems) Haven’t gotten any support from school this year. For those looking for things to read with their child, I recommend joke books, also Tin-Tin books available cheap at Amazon.com (author is Hervre) . The comic style and perceived occassional off-color phrasing seems to appeal to a 10 year-old boy
I have heard that it is a ‘whole language’ program pretending that it is a phonics program. A wolf in sheep’s clothing as it were. There are very good articles on this program, do a search and you will probably come up with them.
