my son decoded 'phosphorescent' today!!!!!!!

We have gotten back to Sound Reading(lesson 23)and I do think that is helping BUT the biggest thing seems to be just having him read aloud and insisting he sound out these words(yes, Victoria, it works)

With PG and SoundReading mostly under his belt, he has had many decoding skills for a long time-insisting he use them seems to be the biggest key

I couldnt have done this without homeschooling. I tried-I REALLY did-but he was so ‘schooled out’ by the time he got home from regular school, it was nothing but a huge battle and learning just wasnt happenin. Summer attempts werent much better

But he enjoys the homeschooling and I am thrilled with his progress.

WE will finish up Sound REading. I find the cards with syllables have been very valuable-this is on the CD as well. They make nonsense words-‘adment’, ‘tretion’, etc. He cant guess because theres nothing to guess-he HAS to decode.

We have read ‘Stone Fox’, “Sadako and the 1000 cranes” and are now in “Big Wave”. I want to up the grade level next book(hes in 6th and these are 4th)but I think we have accomplished a gret deal since August 27th
