Need help in Teaching with Technology in Primary grade level

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

My school has just gotten connected to the internet. I am hoping to find some great ideas in using the internet successfully in the lower grade levels. If you have used something that works please respond.

I am currently in a masters online program where your concern is our primary topic. I teach 3rd grade. I have found that the website, brainpop.com is interesting to my students. It has infromation mini movies on different topics. It gives a short quiz before and after each movie. It keeps the kids attention.

Hope it has been helpful.

Tiffanie,

What are you getting your MA in? I am working on my MA in Educational Technology at Sacramento State (California). We are on-line about 75% of the time and have f2f (face-to-face) meetings about once a month. In fact, we have a f2f this weekend!

I am doing my action research project on how teachers can use technology to assist students who are LD in the classroom. I found that many teachers don’t require special ed students to do much of the computer work (research, typing, etc.) that is required of reg ed students. There are so many different ways to go with this, I need to pin it down soon!

I teach Resource/Special Day Class kids 1st - 5th grades.

Good luck.

Peace.
