Many people have written about their LD kids and students not being able to synthesize or apply their separate skills. I am the author of a spelling series, Looking Glass Spelling, that is designed to teach strategies for spelling that apply to decoding. The books have pages specifically designed for students to learn how to apply their new skills in new words, new vocabulary, and in sentences (context). Please check it out at www.gwhizresources.com
I saw your posting, does your book help kids who spell phonetically? I could not get into your web-site, but my son is 13, gifted, and can’t spell! He works very hard and can not spell common words, even after writing them each 20 times. I am trying to find out if anyone has identified this as a learning disability, and if there are any methods to help teach him how to spell. He is in the 8th grade, and most of the subjects grade on spelling, it will be worse for him in highschool.
