occupational therapy

My son is almost 11 years old and has terrible handwriting. He was taken out of class for tutoring during his early years, but his school is now recommending that we take him to see an OT about the problem. I know there are different schools of thought about OT for older children regarding handwriting and I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this subject. Thank you very much.

I too would like to know about this.My 9 year old 3rd grade son is about to start OT at school .Someone at the school said it might not help much now since he is older and they like to start when they are younger .I tried to get him the help before but since he is extremly bright the school thought he would catch on.Wrong!!!! The OT mentioned last year while at a meeting he needs to learn keyboarding but the school balked at that saying it would take too long.I know when we have our meeting with her next week she will say it again his Sp.Ed. teacher has said the same thing this year so maybe they will teach him this and let him use the computers in everyroom at the school since they arent always being used.
