Opinions about Inclusion

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I am a graduate student studying opinions about inclusion for a research project. I am looking for information from any individuals that are affected by inclusion - teachers, spec. ed. teachers, spec. ed. coordinators, administrators, parents of children with disabilities, students with disabilities, peers of students with disabilities, siblings of children with disabilities, etc.

Here is a definition of inclusion to help you know exactly what we mean:
Inclusion is including children with disabilities with children without disabilities, but any needed services are brought into the regular classroom.

Please answer the following questions within 2 weeks. Also, tell me which of the above categories you fall into (e.g. teacher). Thank you so much for your time!

1. Category: (teacher, administrator, student, etc.)

2. What is your philosophy of inclusion?

3. Do you think children with any kind of disability can be included in the regular classroom? Justify your answer.

4. What are the advantages/disadvantages of inclusion?

5. Do you think inclusion works/does not work? Explain.

6. What is the future of inclusion?

7. What are the critical dimensions of an inclusive classroom?

8. How differently do you want inclusion to be implemented?

9. Have you had experiences in inclusive classrooms? If so, describe your experiences.

Thank you again!
