I work with a third grade boy with learning issues who exhibits some NLDs as well as difficulties with decoding. (He is also getting OG tutoring). He is incredibly hard on himself and can’t allow himself to make a mistake at school - hates spelling pretests, for example, because he is supposed to know how to spell everything already. If he makes an type of error - even learning cursive which is a new third grade skill and he is doing surprisingly well with it, he shuts down, rips his paper up and refuses to do anything.
Any suggestions? His classroom teacher is very nurtuting but still not his teacher from last year who handled him extremely well.
oops, nurturing…..
