One of the things I like about Phonographix is that you can be very prescriptive in what you work on with a child, based upon their current knowledge and how they react to new information.

Most of the students I tutor begin with the advanced code, although they often do need some work with auditory processing tasks (manipulating phonemes) from the blue level as well. Others know their letter sounds, but have difficulty blending or segmenting.

Basically, the child dictates where you begin…and what they need to be taught explicitly. So, in answer to your question, yes, you can begin where every you think makes the most sense.
