pre and post testing materials

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

In my school we are presently using an old version of the Brigance to test our LD students at the beginning and the end of the year for the pre and post test scores we enter on the IEP. We give and oral reading test, reading comprehension, spelling, sentence writing, and math portions of the test. Our school psychologist would like to get new test materials for us, but she is leaving it up to us (2 ld teachers and 2 Mimh teachers) to choose new tests. What are other teachers using in their classrooms? What do you like or dislike about the tests you are using? Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Anne

Are you getting the data you need to remediate from the Brigance? Why change - is your content changing? The best pre and post test is teacher made curriculum based measurements. You can then truly discover if your students have learned what you have taught.
