I teach small group social studies at a public high school. I have 11 student computers in my room. The machines are wired to the web, have the regular Microsoft programs and Inspiration was just installed.
My question is, how much technology is too much?
I use the computers to let kids take notes (assists with physical disabilities) and handwriting issues, store notes electronically, and complete assignments. The problem (maybe its not a problem) is that the computers work so well with motivation, and keeping kids on task that I/we are now dependant on them.
Many students are comfortable with using the web to find pictures and incorporating them into PowerPoint presentations.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
Thanks
Sounds like you have a classroom where my son would flourish!!! Can we clone you?
Go to the www.cast.org website and read, “Teaching Every Student in the Digital Age.” You are cutting edge. Don’t change a thing!!
