Quick Question for all you experts
Could anyone tell me what a Atypical Specific Developmental Disorder is. Is it some type of LD?
Do you mean Atypical Pervasive Developmental Disorder? This is a (probably) mild form of autism, which wouldn’t meet all the criteria for Asperger Syndrome or some other specific form of autism. Perhaps the child does not have the strong interests characteristic of AS, or some other thing (has better body language, better coordination, etc etc).
I think it is a learning disability and the disability is in the form of social learning disability. It would be related to NVD (non-verbal learning disability). Usual people with PDD have difficulty interacting with others, understanding body language, difficulty using body language/eye contact, making friends, and reading people’s intentions or motives.
*Some* people with PDD would have difficulty with motor skills (fine and/or large), dysgraphia, and usually have difficulty with reading comprehension, though much less so with non-fiction.
