Reading Reflex books

What do you think of the supplemental readers that go with the Reading Reflex program? Are they beneficial?

The supplemental readers contain the same stories that are in the Reading Reflex book. They are sold separately for use in classrooms, so each child can have a copy. They are definitely not worthwhile getting if you are a parent tutoring a child at home. Even in a classroom setting, I think they have extremely limited usefulness. They simply provide a little practice for the child before moving him/her into real text.

If you are a reading tutor using Phono-Graphix, you might want to join the ReadNOW list at Yahoo. Several people there have posted original little stories that are excellent.

Oops! I just checked the link you provided, and it looks as if they may have added some new stories (although it also looks as if they have all of the old ones there too). I still think other sources would be much less expensive.

Those are all stories that are either in the book or parent support book. There are much better choices. A PG tutor/clinic owner has actually written a new and much superior workbook for advanced code and he has written new stories. I can give you his email address if you send me a private message. I think the workbook and manual cost around $34.
