Greetings all. I am an employee of the school system as well as a adult AD/HDer. I moved to the area round abouts 2 years ago from up north. Since I have been here I have witnessed numerous noncompliance issues from the state level down, undereducated/misinformed advocates, and plenty of other issues too numerous to name. I have seen violations from Person Co. to Chapel Hill.
Anywho, I would like to implement some change. IMHO, it’s just time for something to be done. Heck, a NC superintendent was voted super of the year in a county that has only a 65% (actually lower) graduation rate. The system in general seems to be focused on the behavioral effects -vs- the undiagnosed LD which is the root of the problem.
Personally, I am quite passionate about making this change. I myself was undiagnosed until I was 25 only because I figgured out what was wrong. Still took 6 more years for me to recieve proper Tx. It’s kind of like this I guess… Anytime I can help a child or adult with a LD or something of the like, I get a little piece of me back.
In closing, if you would like to be a assist me in this juncture, please feel free to write and let me know. I am not a lawyer or anything of the like. I am just a person who is ready for some overdue change.
Thank You
