I am currently pursuing my degree in special education and we have been discussing assessments in class. I have some experience as a parent with the WIAT, WISC III, and Woodcock Johnson assessments. Do SPED teachers use different assessments or are they pretty standard? Where does one start in the process of an initial assessment? What assessment tools are used by a Special Education teacher to determine current levels of functioning for children being assessed for special education services. What are the strengths and weaknesses of the assessments that are commonly used in their profession? :?:
