My son’s school is considering teaching him to read with SRA’s Breaking the Code. I asked for LIPS. He is 12, 6th grade, reads at approx. 2nd grade level (he is being reassessed right now). He has never had a good phonics program. He is severely dyslexic and has an awful short term memory but average long term memory. He has the type of dyslexia that makes the recognition of phonetic symbols difficult. His IQ is high, in the gifted range. He also has ADHD and can be a handful behaviorally (although he can also be very good). Does anyone have experience with SRA’s Breaking the Code? Is it good for a child like my son?
I searched the old messages but didn’t find anything on it.
