This may be kind of a “Stupid Question” but I’m wondering if my Motherly senses are correct.
OK,
Our daughter was dx’d by the SD with Verbal Language Processing Deficit (SLD) in 2nd grade.
We immediatly had a outside eval done that came back w/ the same results but different name for it. (More specific name)
She has attentended Speech Language therapy 1x a wk for 3.5yrs.
Annual Testing at outside therapy has placed her in the low average ranges now so we agreed to discharge from therapies with continual communications and appts as needed to assist with any difficulties that may arise.
So,
Now, I was concerned about a way to keep her progressing vs. regression.
I was thinking outside tutoring yr. round.
Any suggestions or recommendations?
We are interested in continue growth in academics.
We do work with her at home…but I also think outside help is still needed to some degree to keep her growing.
Thanks,
Binky
Re: Stages of a LD?
Hey Sue, could you be a little more specific about that……what kinds of needs do LD girls have as opposed to LD boys?
I’d try to find a good, experienced educational specialist (and one who has worked with girls, who tend to have very different needs than boys with language LDs).
