I just have to share this with like-minded folks: My aide ran into the mother of one of my former students yesterday. He’s PDD, had been in special ed. since he was 3 years old, and I had him for 1st through 3rd grade in resource. Well…He’s in fourth grade now, and his mom says he is OUT of special ed, and being very successful in all of his classes! Isn’t that great? I don’t know about you all, but I need these stories every once in awhile! Hope everyone’s having a great year!

: everyone’s having a great year!It *is*a good feeling to get news from down the road… I met a student of mine working in a restaurant — actually what I’d done was booted him *out* of my class and into the right teachers’ content classes in seventh grade… especially good to see him ‘cz I *had* read about no fewer than four others from that class … w/in a year of 18th birthday they were in jail :(
