Teaching EC children to read

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Hi! Several years ago when I first started teaching EC, I stumbled upon a great reading program for teaching students how to read. It started at the first steps of teaching a student to read. It was excellent!!! I’m now trying to find that program, but I don’t remember the name of it. Maybe one of you can recognize this and tell me were to find it…For the alphabet letter sounds, there were letter pictures. Each letter picture came with a short story, to help the children remember the particular letters sound… ex. Sammy the snake says, “ssssss” and then you’d tell a little story about Sammy and when you blended Sammie with other letters, the story would be about their interaction?sound. I know I’m being vague because it was a long time ago, but I remember how miraculous it was in helping me teach my students how to read. Thanks!!! Paige

I found it!!! The program is called Letterland. It’s excellent and I recommend it to parents and teachers of children with ADHD, LD, etc. Here’s the site for Letterland:
