teaching reading to an older child

this child is fourteen years of age and reads on fifth grade level. in order to teach him context clues to use as a reading tool, i want a game of some sort

Why do you think that he will be successful in learning to read if you use a game to teach context clues?

context clues are good to establish meaning but for decoding they will only make his guesses better, context clues will never propel an older reader through a word such as /constituent/

he needs decoding work, not guessing strategies,

It appears to me the main difference between a 5th grade reader and a 12 grade reader is reading experience. Good books and magazines will do far more than games. Of course, some of the code books, etc.that come with computer games are written at a very high level. From your post, I could not tell if there were decoding problems or not. Nor did you mention motivation.
