Teaching writing to students with LD.

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I am a first year (out of field) special educator. I’m looking for teaching strategies to teaching the writing process to students with learning disabilites. I have 9 eighth grade boys for Language Resource. I would appreciate any resources or ideas that you might have! Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Have you looked at Step Up to Writing from Sopris West? Also, Inspiration software (or other types of graphic organizer) can be a helpful supplement for organizing ideas. Check out Remedia Publications (www.rempub.com) for inexpensive workbooks on outlining and paragraph writing.

Ditto on the Step Up to Writing. It is the best money I’ve spent on materials. I wish I would have had it years ago. Check out www.stepuptowriting.com
