Testing

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Does anyone know of a way to get testing in Science and Social Studies for a home-schooled child with LD?

It is hard to get meaningful testing for those subjects due to the fact that science and social studies curriculums are all so different. I personally would not test those areas with a standardized test unless it is required by law, or something. I think some of the achievement tests like maybe the ITBS include science and social studies. A better idea is to test from the curriculum which you’re using.

Thanks for the response. Virginia requires proof of academic achievement annually for home-schoolers, and I’m not sure if the Academic Knowledge area of test like the Woodcock-Johnson is sufficient; so, I’m looking for other options/ideas.

Virginia only requires proof of progress in math and language arts. Go to http://www.vahomeschoolers.org/ and look at their info. Many hsers use CAT from Seton to show proof of progress.
