testing accommodation revision

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Hi all,
My older son who is 15 and in high school now has in his IEP the accommodation that he takes tests in resource. However, he tells me that it is too distracting because other kids are there having their tests read to them. He accidentally took his alg 1 SOL EOC test in class and did very well on it, failed his Eng final taken in the rr and did ok on the other finals taken in rr. So I don’t really know if I should take that accommodation out or arrange for a different place to take the test.

What do you all think?

best wishes,
Amy

Well, I would definitely request firmly, in writing, a *quiet* location for testing.
Problem is, I have been in schools that simply didn’thave a quiet area; and if they did it was unsupervised and therefore illegal. He may end up having to stay after school to do tests quietly, and that might be a good approach.
