My son is 13 and is behind in reading comprehension. He has some issues like short and long term memory problems which likely trip him up. The only reading testing he’s had is the woodcock johnson subtests for a composit that is grade level or above.
what specific tests are good for a child this age to really show reading difficulties so that I can address these in his next IEP.

You could request that they do something like The Gray Oral Reading Inventory- there are several others like this- which gives a score for accuracy, fluency, and comprehension. Tests like this provide the sort of contextual information that you get about writing from the Test of Written Language-3. If he is successful on the isolated tasks of tests like the WJIII, but has a hard time with connected reading, it will show up here.
