I would like to thank everyone who offered suggestions for my sons IEP goals. The team was very open to all your suggestions and the goals have been “refined”. They qualified him for summer school also and recommended an OT evaluation for his poor writing skills. He will be going to summer school for 3 1/2 hours a day 5 days a week. The main objective will be improving reading skills. I am actually very pleased with the progress he made this year-started with basically a K reading level his independent is now 2.2! Next year he will have the same teacher again because they felt the consistancy would help him out. He is in a cross categorical LD class. Him and one of the other kids on the Autism spectrum were recommended to stay in the same class for this reason and also because it has walls. My son attends a school without walls for the most part. The school seemed very pleased that I was able to offer some insight into what I felt was best for my son. Thanks for the help and support.
