I had the honour of presenting at Destination Success: Exploring Best Practices, a national Canadian conference on learning disabilities in post secondary education in May, 2005. It was a thrill to be in the speakers’ line up, along side the keynote, Richard Lavioe!
For those who know Rick’s How Difficult Can This Be? video, ironically, my presentation was called “A Mile in Their Shoes”, and it took participants through a number of exercises that mimicked what it must be like to have a Learning Disability. My audience was made up of post secondary school students who had LDs, their parents and their instructors and professors.
One concept that I wanted to get across to my audience was that of “fairness”
