Why does the process of referral and developing/approving an IEP take so long to complete? When a teacher notices that a student needs help, they need that help now, not 90 days later. As a teacher, what can I do in the mean time to try to help the student keep up while I am also teaching the whole class
Hi, I have worked as a teacher associate in a BD and LD setting. Also my son has a learning disability that basically doesn’t have a name. Working in these areas helped me recognize his disability. yes I can relate to you on the waiting game for IEP to happen. Its frustrating as a parent as well as a teacher. Here’s what we did for children in your case. We just slowly started to modify is work on our own. We knew where the help was needed. Shorter assingments, study guides for test, and kept intouch with the parents on how they could help. Maybe even send journels.
I hope this helps some!
