My brother is 15 and is in need of a private tutor specialising in LD. He has difficulty in sounding out words and blending the different sounds of the letters. I would like a tutor who is well equipped in language arts in terms of knowledge and tools and also be flexible in the many different methods so as to best meet his needs. His reading test scores are below basic and he is reading way below his grade level.
Please email me at and cc: if interested.
Thanks, Mimi
Re: Tutor Needed in Castro Valley, CA
Not I… I’m *going* to San Francisco in January for the first time for the Technology, Reading and LEarning Difficulties conference though! I’m in slimy SHampoo-Banana Illinois right now, where the basketball team has just won again, because “that’s what they do.”
Thanks for the responses
I’m going to try posting an ad on schwablearning.org…
I’ve checked iser.com and might try calling some learning centers to see what they have to say.
Re: Tutor Needed in Castro Valley, CA
Hi, I’d suggest that the safest way to find a good reading tutor is to contact the International Dyslexia Association. There is a branch in every state and you may contact them, but I think there is also a national database. There are plenty of people out there who “tutor” who would not be able to do what you need.
