I e-mailed LD Online re: inappropriate posts. Usually someone monitors and removes stuff like this!

There is another VERY offensive post on one of the other boards as well. I also emailed last night. As much as I like LD Online, I will have to say that if they can’t have moderators 7 days a week, then perhaps they shouldn’t have this board.

Then they shouldn’t have had it for all these years… and think of all the good that would *not* have been done. IT’s monitored more now than it was…

Well, Sue, I would hope that you didn’t think I was sugggesting that they really close the site. But there really is no excuse not to have boards monitored 7 days a week. I realize they night not be monitored every hour or anything like that, but obscene or offensive posts shouldn’t sit on a board all weekend in my opinion. I’d like to think I can read LD Online with my kids in the room.

Hi all,

I’ve contacted LD Online a couple of times about removing offensive posts - and they have done it as soon as they possibly can. Apparently it’s not quite as easy as hitting the delete button. They have to wait for their technical personnel to come in to make whatever it is happen. I’ve always gotten timely responses, with a nice return e-mail.

Janis, I have been on this board since ‘98, these things occur but thankfully are very rare and quite often taken off very quickly. This board has been a great support as well as a wealth of information, I regularly suggest it to other folks who need info. I’ve looked around and this is the best bulletin board I have seen both in people being respectful and giving good support, info.

I don’t like the inappropriate stuff any more than the next person, that is the price for this being an open forum.

Jessica wrote me a nice reply today and said that she does try to monitor the boards over the weekend but occasionally something is missed. I thanked her and told her I understood and appreciated her help.
