It has been a long time. I used to visit this board or one very similiar about 5 years ago (5 years how time flies) At the time it was for my eldest son who had many problems. He is now in 8th grade and doing amazingly well. It was a long and winding road that was for the most part unpleasant. Today I just got my preliminary report for my daughterand she has LD’s also. I have known for a long time but have been in grand denial. I just didn’t want to do it again. But here goes. My daughter has had vision issues since she was 15 months old. She has strabismus and ambllimyopia and has needed surgery once. Her Optimlogist assured me that vision therapy would not work in her case. I chose to listen to her. Now she is in 3rd grade and showing the very beginnings of reading problems. Vision Therapy is not covered by my insurance plan. On the net I found a varity of products to do therapy at home. Can anyone recommend on over the others and also home excersies that require no special equipment. Thank you

My 9 year old daughter has been using the HTS program. I think it has helped, especially with respect to tracking. It may have been the new glasses, though. Hard to know for sure. What I do know, is that she seems to really enjoy reading now, and no longer complains that her eyes are hurting.
Re: Vision Therapy
And I would just add that an evaluation by a developmental optometrist is essential before you decide on any home training program. Go to this site to find one:

My daughter has vision therapy in the office and is supposed to follow it up at home with a computer program. It’s HTS computerized home vision therapy system. The website on the box is www.homevisiontherapy.com.
I do need to tell you that my daughter really hates the program. I think it has helped somewhat but it’s like pulling teeth to get her to do this. They tell me at the doctor’s office that most kids love it or don’t mind. Who knows if this is really true.
