WANTED: Children with reading disabilities

ATTENTION FAMILIES OF CHILDREN WITH READING DISABILITIES (AGES 6 to 14)

We are currently looking for children with and without reading disabilities to participate in a research study to learn more about what causes difficulty with reading.

WHAT: 2 days of paper & pencil tasks, computerized tests, and some children will receive Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans of the brain

WHERE: Kennedy Krieger Institute

BENEFITS: Each child receives $25 for study participation and $10 for lunch; Free IQ and school testing with summary; Some children will receive free MRI.

i responded to your request for children with LD’s a while ago. I spoke with you(?) or someone who said two of my four LD children would be eligible. I think the other two are not because they are on med’s.
i am very sorry to have procrastinated (apple doesn’t fall far from the tree) The two you are interested in have only had formal testing with S/L by Sue Loomis.
One of the one’s on med would have been good, as we are a bit suspicious of her being a double-deficit child.
Bottom line - I guess you are still looking for candidates. Let me know and I will get my act together and send you copies of the test results that I have.

ps I heard Dr. Cutting speak at the MD branch IDA on Monday night. She did a great job and looks way to young to have done her dissertation!
