Hello, I am doing an extended reasearch project on the wilson reading method and I have come across a few questions. I would appreciate it if anybody could help me with the following:
1) I am gearing this research project on the WRM in the lower grades (k-3rd) and I would like to know how the method modifies itself to be taught to children in the lower grades.
2) What kenisthetic methods/lessons/techniques are employed in the WRM?
3) Any suggestions for setting up the classroom so that it would compliment the WRM.
Thank you all very much for your time in reading this and replying.
Re: Wilson Reading questions
My school (K-2) uses the Wilson program as part of a comprehenasive reading program. Every class gets Wilson instruction for at least 1/2 hour a day. A group of students (about 25 per grade level) are pulled out for small intensive Wilson instruction for 1 hour per day (K has 1/2 hour). To use the program with a large group there has to be some modification to the Wilson lesson plan format but it can be done.
My school systems goal is that every primary teacher be Wilson certified in Level 1.
Most of these questions should be answered in the manual…
