I have been serching for information on teaching students with LD’s work realated skills. I am involved in a student work program in our school district. My self and the coordinator of the program place students on job sites for two hours out of the school day. The students recive two class credits. Most students work with a job coach, some are higher functioning and work on independent sites with minimal supervision.
It is my job to teach these students work related skills, how to build resumes and career portfolios, how to prepare for interviews, appropriate dress for their job site and so on.
I have only been in this job for 2 years and I have been using materials left my the other Career Tech. Most are outdated. My students are 9th throught 12th graders. Their functioning levels range from IQ’s below 60 to around 95. Some have physical disabilites as well.
Can anyone offer any new ideas that might help? Please feel free to e-mail me.
Thanks you.
