In addition to being a mother of a boy with a learning disability in
reading and writing I work as a substitute special education aide.
Today I subbed in an English as a Second Language classroom.
The class was filled with adorable little
kindergarten through second graders. They spoke
Russian, Ukrainian, Pharisee, Tagalog,
Chinese, Kosovan and a few other languages.
(Hope I’ve got those spelled correctly!)
Today, on the anniversery of September 11th, they all came to school
wearing red, white and blue t-shirts, buttons, stickers and hair ribbons.
It was a wonderful way to spend the day.

That sounds like a wonderful way to spend a day!! When I dropped my son of at school, he is in first grade at a private school, the class was all dressed in red, white, and blue!! It was really sweet!!
When I picked him up at school, I asked if they did anything special for the anniversary of Sept. 11. He said they had a moment of silence and said nice things about the people who helped others and the people who went to heaven! I really wasn’t sure at age 6 he would understand but he seemed to have a pretty clear grasp on what happened!!
