Just wondered if any of you regular readers/parents/professionals
will be at the International Dyslexia Association conference
in Atlanda, November 13-16? I teach elementary resource and would enjoy talking with other bulletin board readers.

Re: International Dyslexia Association conference in Atlanta
I try to go to the IDA conferences every second year. This is my off-year. I’ve found that sometimes if you go every year - some of the sessions can be a bit redundant. All extremely worthwhile of course - but an expensive review of previously noted information. Every second year there is usually something that is genuinely ‘new research’ and that 2 year cycle seems to work best for me. What do others think?
On my off-years we try to go to something else along that line. This year 4 teachers from our school did the PACE program.
Re: International Dyslexia Association conference in Atlanta
I will be there. I too go every other year or so. I’ve been a member since 1991, and was trained in O-G. I’m arriving in Atlanta on Tuesday night because I am starting my sessions with the W2 symposium on Wednesday. Would be glad to meet with you. L. Starr
I'll be there
… talking on Saturday about secondary content area teaching, and at booth 409 (“Resource Room”) in between times. Drop on by!!
Re: I'll be there
Sue,
I’ve enjoyed your website since it offers a lot to supplement the kind of teaching I do. You’ve obviously put a lot of work into it and into this bulletin board since I read your responses to lots of people. I don’t see how you have the time! I usually try to catch up with reading the different strands on the weekends. Looking forward to meeting you. I’ll be sure to drop by your booth!

Re: International Dyslexia Association conference in Atlanta
Linda,
I’ll be arriving Wed. evening since we can’t leave until after the school day and will be there through Sat. I also teach a multi-sensory structured language program. I’m using Language! but pull from other programs like Wilson, etc. I haven’t been strictly trained as an O-G teacher, but have been to lots and lots of workshops and worked on research programs where we used those techniques. For the 1st graders, I’m using Sound Reading Solutions and Phonographix (although I don’t have all their materials). If there is a bulletin board at the registration area, I’ll leave a note for you suggesting a place and time where we could meet—maybe at Sue’s booth? Looking forward to meeting you!

Re: International Dyslexia Association conference in Atlanta
I encourage others to apply for the registration scholarship offered by IDA. The form was in the booklet of courses. On a whim I mailed it in and was notified the next day!
(Edited by Jessica to remove all-caps. Please read the FAQ, folks!)
Wish I could! My district isn’t paying for subs or fees for nat’l conferences this year.
