Does anyone have any information on Brain Gym? Thanks!
Re: http://www.braingym.org/ Great stuff this! (nt)
I have the teacher addition for brain gym but how does a parent use this.
Re: Brain Gym?
There is a teachers addition book you can order I have one but I am not sure how to use it.
Re: Brain Gym?
Brain gyms is used to heighten or lower excitability levels, it is used to calm and relax, and it is used to energize (not all at the same time naturally…) It is a sensory program that can be used by anyone with almost any child. Careful with full autism, though.
Parents can use it in the doctor’s office (while waiting anywhere, really), doing homework, in church.
Be creative.
I do the ear-rolls with high school kids. They say it is dopey but they keep doing it.
Re: Brain Gym?
I’ve looked for quite awhile to find any research that supports the use of Brain Gym exercises in the remediation of learning problems. I found lots of “stories” that claim it helps but no research. Has anyone found any???
Re: Brain Gym?
Nope—Haven’t looked either. An ex-principal paid to have the one-day seminar and bought the books. Figured if she was buyin’, I’d take it in. Felt good, so I use it sometimes. I certainly wouldn’t base a program or IEP goals around it. Seems like it fits in the sensory integration arena and, as I recall, there’s not much research on that either.
