assessing listening comp

When testing for listening comprehension using informal reading inventory passages, do you read the student the passage once or twice? It almost seems unfair to do it just once.

I read it once. I also believe that the oral comprehensions subtest on the WIAT permits the assessor to read the passage once. Yes, memory is a factor in listening comprehension. Attention deficit can make listening comprehension APPEAR to be poor, if the child loses attention midway. However, this usually would be less likely to occur in 1:1 testing in a quiet setting than in a classroom.
