Hi,
Does anyone know of a good phonemic awareness test for older kids (4th grade-up)? The ones I see most often are geared for kids K-2. I’ve administered them to older children, and sometimes the items seem very easy for kids who I know are having more trouble in this area. I’m interested in tests that supply norms, too.
Thanks!

The Lindamood Auditory Conceptualization Test can be used up through adults.
LAC test
I find that test so confusing to administer especially when the child makes mistakes and you have to form a new set. Writing the colors is hard for me.
Re: LAC test
I agree, but I also think that it’s very hard for those who take it, too. I’m willing to allow that if they don’t “get it” they have difficulty in this area, but sometimes I feel that conceptually it’s just too great a leap for some people who may have deficits in other areas. I know the test but have been reluctant to use it for that reason.
Re: LAC test
I agree. I also think that sometimes maybe the kids just don’t “get” the directions. It’s so confusing even for adults.
The Comprehensive Test of Phonological Processing (CTOPP) has a version for ages 7-24.
