Re: An interesting article
Well, I read part and skimmed parts and I found it slightly disconcerting. One thing that bothers me is that my child is one who has been taught with an excellent phonics program and word-reads at grade level, but she has no comprehension. I agree with the article that comprehension has been neglected. Another thing is that they did not seem to feel that the US studies were overwhelmingly in favor of systematic phonics instruction. Ugh.
