Re: Teaching Students
Get in contact with the Disabled Student Services of the Campus where you will be going to school. I would also suggest that you ask for an Auditory Trainer so that you can focus during lectures. I am ADD and use an Auditory trainer, aka an FM System or Asssitive listening device. It really helped me keep on track during lectures.
is a therapy that often helps symptoms of ADD. Check it out at http://www.interactivemetronome.com
Other programs that can be very helpful, both for ADD and dyslexia, are Audiblox (http://www.audiblox2000.com) and PACE (Processing and Cognitive Enhancement, http://www.learninginfo.com). Audiblox is inexpensive but you would need to find a dedicated adult to do the exercises with you on a daily basis. PACE is very expensive, and you also need a responsible adult to work with you for 3 hours a week on the exercises, but it can be extremely beneficial.
There is an excellent spelling program for adults at http://www.avko.org. This approach was developed by a dyslexic, is easy to do, and tends to be very effective. Again, you need an adult helper for this.
For reading, you might benefit from Phono-Graphix. If you go to http://www.readamerica.net, you can call or email to find out if there are certified PG tutors in your area. Remediation with this approach usually takes only 12 hours or so, making it relatively inexpensive.
