Has anyone here had any experience with the Language! program by Sopris West? How well does the program work, and what level is appropriate for Grade 7-8? I’ve already visited the website, but am unclear about the difference between the levels. I’ve heard complimentary things about the program, but would be more interested in what teachers who work with the program think. Would students continue to require an additional multisensory component such as Wilson, Lindamood, PG or does it work on its own?

Janis:
Thanks for the info. I would be interested in taking the Language! training as well, but there don’t seem to be any training sites near me. And of course it is quite doubtful that I could afford the materials at this time. I did, however, purchase the Rewards program. I thought after using Wilson all year, my 7th graders might like to take a break and do somethinbg different for awhile.

Re: Language!
Really and truly, PG or Rewards will probably get them reading just fine. I know PG is supposed to be a much faster remediater than Wilson. And you can always add Step Up to Writing for the writing component. So while I love extra training, it is possible to piece together a very strong program without going into a new comprehensive program like Language! And you are very right, the Language! materials are quite an investment.

Re: Language!
Hi Janis,
My name is Lillian and I am new to this message board. I was reading your response to Marilyn and I wanted to ask you what is PG?
Thanks,
Lillian
Marilyn,
I know a little about Language! as I am aquainted with a trainer. I believe Level 3 is for kids past elementary level.
No, you would not need any other reading program. This is a comprehensive program with Orton Gillingham type methods and also includes spelling, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing.
I am trying to get into a training session this summer. I would say training is essential.
