Math testing inquiry

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

I am looking for moderately priced criterion-referenced math testing software—and also paper copy tests—which provide some idea of the grade-level mastery achieved. They will be used to measure IEP goals and objectives, so several forms are desired.

Thanks, in advance

Test of Mathematical Abilities (TOMA-2) “measures math performance including story problems and computation and has five subtests, four in the core battery (Vocabulary, Computation, General Information, and Story Problems) and one supplemental subtest (Attitude Toward Math). Is standardized on 2147 students from 26 states, with standard scores, percentiles, and grade or age equivalents, the reliability coefficients for the subtests are above .80; those for the quotient mostly exceed .90.” The entire kit is $89 including the examiners manual and 25 Profile/Record forms from Slosson Educational Publications. It is for grades 3-12 and takes 1.5 hours to administer.

I have worked with the TOMAGS (for gifted students) by the same company but never with this particular test. I am very pleased with the results of the test I am familiar with. Our district does use the TOMA-2 for testing if warranted after the BRIGANCE Inventory of Basic Skills if the math area shows deficiency.

Slosson has a website: www.slosson.com and you can order a catalog from that site or call 1-888-SLOSSON (756-7766).

I hope this helps.
