My gifted LD son is having alot of difficulty in Geometry. He has difficulty processing visual spacial equations. His teacher will not make any modifications for him. Do you have any suggestions?
Re: geometry
Hello Debby
I am a math teacher with over 10 years of practice with LD students only.
My advice in this case is keep it down to technique dont try to make your son visualise spacial principles when this is his difficulty (this kind of difficulty belogs ti thr right-lobe related difficulty) try to find a purely technical step-by-step way of solving problems, the spacial understanding will come later at its own time, for now your task (yours and the teachers of course) is to prevent your som from developing low self esteem and frustration, dont let him fall into the “I ‘ll bever be able to do it” kind of view.
All this is very general of course specific techniques must and can be developer only by the people working with your son.
So good luck to him and to you.
