Hello, I’m a graduate student doing a paper on inclusion, and would like to get
opinions from school administrators, teachers, speech therapists, parents of
students with disabilities, students with disabilities, and anyone with an opinion
on the subject. Below, I will pose 7 questions. Please answer these to the
best of your ability. Thank you in advance for your help.
1. What is your philosophy of inclusion?
2. Do you think children with any kind of disability can be included in the regular classroom? Justify your answer.
3. What are the advantages/disadvantages of inclusion?
4. Do you think inclusion words/does not work?
5. What is the future of inclusion?
6. What are the critical dimensions of an inclusive classroom?
7. How differently do you want inclusion to be implemented?
Re: survey questions about inclusion
All special education students should be included in regular classes with the general population. This give the exceptional student a chance to learn what the other students are learing. If the exceptional student needs special assistance, the teacher of record should provide help within the regular classroom. If the assistance that is given doesn’t help the special student to learn, than that student shouldn’t be placed in that kind of setting. The biggest disadvantage of inclusion is that the regular teacher needs the proper preparation to teach those with special needs. Inclusion works only if the regular teacher has the necessary materials and help to meet the needs of those with special learning needs. The future of inclusion is here to stay according to FAPE. Inclusion needs to be implemented immediately.
