Is anyone familar with this new technique of having a language teacher go into the regular ed class and work with the student with language difficulties during her regular classes?

Yes — and if it’s not keeping a student from getting remediation when that’s needed, it can be a good thing. If the student needs work on reading skills, they still need work on the reading skills though. Even if the teacher being there lets the student get A’s, if it’s in lieu of learning to read the problems are painfully obvious (well, at least to me!)

This was done with my son was a preschooler and having pragmatic difficulties. It seemed to help. I can’t imagine the type of things he does now being done in the classroom though.

Yes. My friend does it and it’s good and bad. If it’s noisy in the classroom, it’s hard to work with the students who are language disabled. It’s great if the 2 teachers can team teach a lesson. ALL students would benefit from that.
