Co:Writer

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

My 10 1/2 year old son was diagnosed with ADD in 2nd grade. He is currently using Co:Writer in school to help with writing assignments etc. I am investigating purchasing it or another word prediction software for my home. Co:Writer is very expensive and our school district doesn’t seem open to helping parents with licensing at a cheaper cost.I have two questions. 1) Does anyone know if Don Johnston will work with parents on special pricing? 2) Does anyone know of a similar product for home use that is less costly?Thank you,Michelle

If your child is successful using CoWriter, You probably don’t want him to have to learn a different program at home. It might be too confusing. Is CoWriter part of his IEP plan at school? If it is part of his IEP and he needs it to complete his homework assignment, then the school should provide it for him at home on his home computer. If the district is buying CoWriter as part of a multi-license deal, maybe the company will allow you to plug into their multi-license agreement.
