math technology links

Submitted by an LD OnLine user on

Greetings- I am currently responsible for teaching math to seventh grade males(5). They have use of internet connected ibooks, thanks to our governor, Angus King. I am expected to integrate the use of technology and the internet in my lessons- a very exciting challenge given that the young people I am working with have depressed reading skills and are often confused with the language of mathematics. Does anyone know of any links that are interactive? We are currently using the Connected Math program with modifications. I am also enrolled in a technology course and have spent many hours surfing. If you have any useful sites that you have used I would appreciate it or if you have any lesson ideas that would be wonderful too. Here in central, semi-rural Maine autumn colors are settling in, as is the cool weather. Snow is not far away!

For the times tables broken ‘way down (one at a time, starting w/ the zeroes) go to www.resourceroom.net

There is a lot of basic drill at www.aaamath.com .

Keep in mind the research indicating that just using the technology for drill has limited long-term effectiveness (though I would venture to say that it depends on what the *rest* of the program is!)

Thanks so much :) The site you provided also linked me to so many other layers. I am still amazed by all that is available on- line ( I am somewhat of a new comer ). I am going to be creating a web page for special education teachers in our state, which will contain as many sites and links that I can find. Your response was very helpful. I am also looking for sites that venture into applications into real life problem solving that I can manipoulate and fine tune to meet the needs of my students. Thanks again.
